Thyroid Specialists

Thyroid Issues

The thyroid is a butterfly-shaped gland at the front of the neck. It is made up of two halves, called lobes, which lie on either side of the windpipe.

The thyroid gland is part of the endocrine system, which consists of a group of glands responsible for producing the body’s hormones. The thyroid gland makes hormones that control the speed of the body’s processes, such as heart rate, digestion, body temperature and weight. This is known as your metabolic rate.

Thyroid disease can be difficult to diagnose and there are different types of examinations and tests that can be performed to determine if you have thyroid disease. As head and neck specialists we offer surgical intervention for the treatment for thyroid disease and thyroid cancer. Mr. Mark Guirguis and Mr. Sam Flatman both have a sub-speciality interest in thyroid disease and thyroid cancer.

Through advanced training and studies in this area we offer our patients the most current diagnosis techniques and treatment of thyroid disease and thyroid cancer.
