    Ear, Nose and Throat Consultant Surgeon

    Sam Flatman is a consultant surgeon at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, St Vincent’s Hospital in Melbourne and ear nose throat Ballarat.  He completed Medicine at the University of Melbourne in 2006 and trained in Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery in Melbourne before becoming a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2015.

    He has recently returned from working in North America at the world renowned Toronto General Hospital, Princess Margaret Cancer Centre and Mount Sinai Hospital where he completed further sub-specialisation in advanced head and neck surgical oncology and thyroid surgery.

    He has formal training and accreditation in head and neck ultrasound, issued by the American College of Surgeons, and he is one of few thyroid surgeons in Australia who performs their own ultrasounds and fine needle biopsies as part of the work up for thyroid nodules and thyroid cancer. He is also trained in transoral laser and transoral robotic surgery.

    Sam Flatman’s sub-specialty expertise includes thyroid and parathyroid surgery, head and neck cancer surgery, surgery for benign head and neck tumours and the management of snoring and obstructive sleep apnoea. He has published and presented both nationally and internationally. He also has expertise in paediatric ENT, laryngology, rhinology and general ENT.
