Stephanie VealSpeech Pathologist

    Speech Pathologist

Stephanie is a Speech Pathologist and certified practicing member of Speech Pathology Australia. Since graduating from La Trobe University in 2009 with a Bachelor of Speech Pathology, Stephanie has worked extensively within various health services in metropolitan Melbourne. Having worked with patients and families across the continuum of care, including intensive care, acute, rehabilitation, palliative care and outpatients, Stephanie has an appreciation of the patient journey through the medical system.

Stephanie specialises in the assessment and management of swallowing, speech, voice and cough impairments. She enjoys working closely with Ear Nose and Throat specialists, given the shared interest in the anatomy and physiology pertinent to swallowing and communication, and values a rounded approach to improving outcomes for patients.

Swallowing ability and effective communication are integral to quality of life. We often take these functions for granted, and don’t think about the intricacies behind the processes required to enable us to enjoy family meals and eating out, or the communication that enables us to work professionally and is central to all of our relationships. Stephanie is passionate about improving health and functional outcomes for her patients to empower them to live their best lives. She believes in building strong relationships with her patients and provides person-centred care. She uses assessments and interventions that are in keeping with the latest research and evidence, and incorporates validated patient reported outcome measures to understand how your impairment may affect you, and to allow for tracking of progress throughout treatment.

In addition to working as a senior clinician, Stephanie has significant experience in providing education and training to other health professionals, particularly in swallowing and head and neck cancer, and in implementing health policy. She has completed a Master of Health Administration at Monash University to further enhance her knowledge and understanding of the health sector.

Having recently moved to Ballarat with her family, Stephanie is thrilled to join the team at ENT Ballarat and looks forward to contributing her expertise to this highly skilled professional group for multidisciplinary management of patients.
